Closed Top Spring

Post by maurosmartins »

Dear all,

I'm trying to model a spring similar to the one shown in the following picture:

so far I've used the AdditiveHelix from the PartDesign wb to make the spring body, and afterwards I've created the pin that is soldered.

The problem is the top. How can I create the spiral path that matches the spring body ending so I can afterwards make a sweep? is this the easier way to do it?

I look forward your ideas/guidance.

Best regards, Mauro.

Make another helix using :- Height-Turns-Growth with zero height.

I've tried this, but unfortunately it seems it only goes outwards, any workaround?:

I'm lost, you mean create the spiral only to close the top? if so, how do you match the ending of the spring body with the new spiral?

Best regards, Mauro.

All in Part WB:
Make helix and spiral. Combine in a SubShapeBinder (because sweep path has to lie in a single object) . Sweep a circle.

it is not necessary that the end of the spiral is in contact with the beginning of the spring, but parallel it is just necessary that the beginning is just in the same parallel plane
the profile can be either the original sketch or the face of the end of the spring
