I can't guarantee, that I used exactly the same positions as in the example, but they would appear to have been similar.

Does anybody know anything more specific about this ?

Check out the "right hand rule," that explains why transposing one of the points leads not to a rotation but a 'flip'.

Here is an animation showing an alignment with a "universal method"...

I get it, understand learn the default tools...

But, these examples are the reasons I use Manipulator. So, just to show the alternates.

Select a face, Ctrl-select another face click one icon. Done.

Want is flipped the other way, click a checkbox, then click the icon.

Align the normals, a checkbox, then click the icon.

It is the oldest, safest and most stable method (not that the others are not) but unlike the others you learn to reason and understand "work plans" and 3D modeling (in the strict sense of the definition) by managing it appropriately "the virtual universe" regardless of the modeling software.
