A simple arrow for any object

Post by Vincent B »

As radius arrow is not working with fillets, why not to make simple arrow from any edge on the drawing with a text as measurement?
And same thing with diameters, why not change the text measurement as need. The diameter 40 is indicated 40,46 because the draft, but its really 40, I would suggest the possibility to write manually 40.
thanks

I like this idea. "Add Arbitrary Dimension" or some such. Don't have a method of picking a spot on the Edge for the arrowhead, but I imagine that can be figured out.

This one bothers me a bit. I don't quite see where the 40 diameter is. Between midpoints of the radii? It seems that there should be a way to pick the right points. Even though "Arbitrary Dimension" would be a work-around, I wish I could come up with a general solution.

Note that I am envisioning this as a "last ditch" solution for Dimensioning.

There are some similarities between this and a traditional "leader" (which has been on the TD todo list for a while), but the "Arbitrary Dimension" needs to link to specific geometry(?) and the leader needs better formatting options.

such a feature would also be useful to define surface finish and tolerances!

Arbitrary switch for Dimension values added here: git commit a40996016

From TechDraw_Dimension_Length#Properties:
DATA Arbitrary: "True" - ignore actual value and display FormatSpec as value. "False" - use actual value.
