Features Request: Toggle "Assembly4 mode" in Part Design WB

Post by jruiz »

As we know, when Parts, Bodies, Sketches, Planes are going to be created in Assembly4, a name is requested before their creation.
After creation, Parts and Bodies have their respective LCSs.
In the case of Sketches, LCS, Plans, Axes... attachments are requested.

Beyond any workarounds, I think Part Design WB should have these features as part of it.

you mean you want to be asked for a name every time you create an object?

Yep, but beside this, to:
  • have LCSs included in Parts and Bodies and
  • to be able to select the more references for Sketches to be attached to, (appart from XY, XZ and YZ planes)
And, if Part or a Body is selected (without activating it), a sketch can be created inside it...

They already have the origin object
to be able to select the more references for Sketches to be attached to, (appart from XY, XZ and YZ planes)
With this I agree, there's already a couple of discussions requesting this and I think a github issue too.

Yes, but they do not have an "LCS object", as the ones created with the corresponding tool, which is IMHO very useful.

Probably because LCS is a concept of Assembly4 WB?

if is true adding to the std Part Design WB will make a preference over an Assembly WB out the many available.

I think this will lead also on some retrocompatibility issue that usually are not adressed by WB creator.

And probably if there is already a discussion about similar things it is not as plain as it could seems at a first glance.
