how to modify some of the translations we read on the web page of FreeCAD?
https://www.freecadweb.org/?lang=fr
or whom is in charge to do that in order to propose translation?

Isn't it done via Crowdin sub-page Homepage.po?

checking from home.
I've translate some by the past but never took care it was the text for these pages.

I don't find under homepage.po
- Users documentation
- Report a bug
- current stable release

Is it possible to attribute links that we can translate too?
for ex
<a href=https://wiki.freecad.org/User_hub>Users documentation</a>
becomes
<a href=https://wiki.freecad.org/User_hub/fr>Documentation pour utilisateurs</a>

on the page https://www.freecad.org/features.php, at the end, we have the list of the different releases. Can we have the links to translate, pls?

in couple English texts, we read /n______. What is the purpose of that? I don't understand its effect.

it's late now and I add few things more.

I would do it like that on a translated page. Why should they link to the english page when a translated page is available?

I wondered about that, too. Maybe @kaktus has an idea, he has some more experience with Crowdin.

hello gents. ;)

David, as always, you can preview how these translations are done in other languages.

If the source link leads to the FreeCAD wiki I always add a tag to the Polish version of the page.
see for example here:
https://crowdin.com/translate/freecad/2 ... pl#6596138

for a change the string you are asking about

Code: Select all

\n
is the sign of the beginning of a new line and a few blank spaces.

This is ordinary text formatting. Line splitting and spacing. To make the displayed text look nice on the site.
This allows you to divide the sentence nicely so as not to spoil the content and so that the number of words in a line is uniform.
Of course, it looks different in English and any other language.

Bad news David - these two strings got the hidden attribute. It must have been recently ...

As usual, I can help you improve the translations for them.
And any other person.

Code: Select all

Hi Kaktus

that's also what I did on these translations. My question is for the authors: can they put extra wiki links so we can add the language tag + our translations?

I am not 100% persuaded. That was my original idea but when I compare the return of the lines, they don't really care about it.

I know we can count on you, but there are about 7000 languages and even if we restrict to the most used, there are about 40 (joke). Better to un-hidden them.
thanks a lot for the bug report.

and I didn't catch what you meant about the release links. My request is put the list of links for the releases in translation.

to illustrate my doubt about /n
here is the text on Crowdin
Capture du 2022-07-01 23-05-13.png
Capture du 2022-07-01 23-05-13.png (16.2 KiB) Viewed 704 times
and it's appearance
Capture du 2022-07-01 23-05-31.png
Capture du 2022-07-01 23-05-31.png (45.69 KiB) Viewed 704 times
is it depending on the size of the screen? mine is 15" and in that case, it's an other point to deal with.

As you can see it didn't work.

The maintainer of the site is probably @yorik  Maybe he can tell us what was the intended purpose of using this control sign :?:
