with this (basic setting) it works

no, changing 3D view selection setting doesn't seem to make any difference,
(I can't see any "snapping" points in either case)
but it could be to do with your version? (where is the info?)
or it could be to do with my Draft settings?
I am using Link branch and Assembly3

I did not expect any change ;)
for me it doesn't work whatever the setting of 3D view selection.

On the other hand it seem to work OK in Master branch without doing anything special...
