I have copied .FreeCAD from one PC (with appimage) to another PC (with snap) and unfortunately it doesn't work like I was hoping
i.e. just doesn't work :(
Did you copy both /home/.local/share/FreeCAD and /home/.config/FreeCAD?

This location is to do only with master branch, Linkstage3 uses different one...
I have separate thread for master branch in main help forum.
Here we discuss only link realthunder's branch.
I am using Link branch and Assembly3

I can confirm that it works OK if both (appimage and snap) are on the same machine, but trying it between two different ones caused me problems

what kind of problem? hard to troubleshoot if you don't specify, you can open the config file in a text editor a look if there are saved paths that would conflict.
I moved my config from linux to windows successfully so it should be possible from one linux to the other

sorry, this was indeed sloppy...
The problem was, that whilst for example addons transferred OK, the GUI settings did not. Plus preferences were also missing, and a macro customising FreeCAD didn't work at all (even when I tried it later manually). So one big mess
In the end I had to sort things out manually.

On the other hand transfer between appimage and snap in the same machine was totally perfect :P

In the end I have decided that I was spending more time trying "automate" the problems, than what it took me to "manually", so just did the job...

BTW for the record:
both the desktop and laptop were running exactly the same distro, using the same user name and the same folders, locations and paths.

Thank you for your help and sorry for the messy end...

Please note that the place of the config file changed in 0.20. See https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?p=547549

Yes, and it is reflected in my posts on master branch (see separate thread).
This does not apply to Linkstage3 (realthunder) branch - it still uses original location!
