Re: An exploration into the Icon theme
I like the concept but the gear use seems a little excessive, I'm not too convinced on having text on the icons, plus black on white seems bland.
I like the Path, FEM and sketcher icons, although the sketcher one may be a little too loaded
PD and Draft icon seem a little too similar but I don't think I have good ideas for those.
For the mesh icon shouldn't the gear be meshed instead of outside of it?
It seems weird to have a gear on arch wb but it's fine for consistency I see no need for a gear on home, spreadsheet and web.
The part and surface icon convey no meaning to me, if anything the surface one suggests meshing.
Techdraw icon looks weird IMO since it's the only monochrome among the rest, perhaps the frame of the page could have some color? Or the page could be placed like in the spreadsheet icon.
I'm sorry if I sound too negative, I really aim to give constructive criticism to help iterate and improve.

* Sketcher need a pen like in Draft
* Part and PartDesign ???
** Part is more about basic solids and fusion/cut
** no pen for PD wb. More about an evolutive body.

Re: An exploration into the Icon theme
@adrianinsaval It's good feedback, I have gone true pages of Freecad icons but not a single one though about pushing the icon style towards the workbench icons, to give the user a more complete experience. So it is pretty hard to do. Especially since there is not a whole lot to go on than a Gear and a F.
Hopefully more people get more idea's!
@Shalmeneser I added the pen in part design to make it look like the original. Part and Part design have almost the same features. So it is pretty hard to do. Also the normal icon is just a cube. I btw updated it a bit to have less colors.

Re: An exploration into the Icon theme
For me the gear not make enough differentiation between icon workbenches. Some colour can help.

More colors only makes it more busy, the icons itself should be recognizable from each other. Current icons do this, but they just don't tell a lot about the workbench and they don't look like they belong to each other.
Inverted the lines on some icons to make them look less the same.

Ok I agree, icons are difficult choose.MisterMaker wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 7:44 am More colors only makes it more busy, the icons itself should be recognizable from each other. Current icons do this, but they ......
Some outline to blue make it more prominent in dark background?
Re: An exploration into the Icon theme
the blue is too saturated, particularly for a dark/black background

Re: An exploration into the Icon theme
It's the Freecad logo blue.
Like the same blue as the text of this forum, in dark mode

What is the status of Realthunder's icon pack merge? I don't see the option to import the icons in the latest 0.21 dev build.
So what would be the process of updating to your icons for master @MisterMaker?
These are really nice icons by the way, which is why I am pretty exited to get my hands on them.
