multithreading: CPU-utilization

Post by thschrader »

short question:
Why is FC consuming 18% cpu-loading when running an external program and FC is "not used"?
Here: simplefoam, running parallel on 4 cores.

Possibly writing the output to screen? If it's a small case then the output comes thick and fast and may consume quite a lot of processing to update the report view window. For a larger problem it should become negligible.

Not quite the same question, but is there a reason for not having a reconstructpar button having run a parallel case?

It's easy to open the folder and manually run reconstructpar, but would it not be a lot tidier to have the command within CFDOF?

We haven't found the need, since paraview can deal with the decomposed case directly. But we'll gladly accept this as a contribution ;-)

Hi,

I find that opening the deconstructed case in paraview ends up with weird blocks in the domain, However, if I reconstruct it using reconstructpar, all is normal?
