Thanks chris. A lot of people don't always recognize what it takes to be a good forum moderator. I appreciate the work you do to keep these forums a clean, organized and mostly civil place.

Re: FreeCAD Logo Design
Playing with wings of freedom and symmetry I have obtained this silhouette.
The image is not vector or has color for now, but I think it has appeal

Re: FreeCAD Logo Design
As desktop icons tend to have square proportions, I have made an adaptation of the previous logo.

Re: FreeCAD Logo Design
They both look, well, nice, but they neither transport the idea of mechanical or architectural design, nor do they reuse the letters FC nor do they reuse the colors. I would rather like to see one of the first and both latter to be transported.

Re: FreeCAD Logo Design
Really fun thread. Took some time this evening to make some drafts based on your idea but instead of the rotated F that looks like thread, I used a very normalish F. Not sure if it was intentional, but your "C" is a shape in the OpenCasCade logo, which I thought you were quoting directly at first.pablogil wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 10:08 pm
my beloved proposal would the following:
- a design that is somehow an evolution of the actual design so that it is more of a modernization than a brand new logo
- used technical drawing for defining the shapes (easy to reproduce even drawing it inside FreeCAD)
- the actual blue gear evolves to an open "gear" or C that recalls the "open source" logo and helps to easily read FC
- using the same colors than the original design
- it works great at any size, from a 16px icon to as big as you want
- monochrome version keeps its integrity, it is unequivocally recognized
- and a reminiscence of a modern airplane, rocket or similar that makes the logo (and FreeCAD itself) to embrace the idea of being a powerful and fast software
