What is the ms/fps display in the lower left of the 3D view?

And, more importantly...how does one get rid of it?

EDIT: Found it...

yes, and that one should be part of a standard FreeCAD package
Not everyone likes the tab-bar addon, I rather dislike it. If added to a standard install of freecad it better be optional.

I find it somewhat more palatable as icons opposed to tabs. Either way, I don't expect a new user is going to grok the idea. Once you know what the icons or labels mean then it may be marginally better the a drop down box.

Be able to switch it off is also optional right...

I am continuing to use/explore this configuration.

One note is that the specific Assembly 4 tweaks may not be desirable in a default pack. And, it took me some digging to get them gone...

There are other things that I think would help new users that are turned off/on. While the navicube is there, I think the axis cross should be available, it is just a more obvious indication of the world coordinate system and where the user orients.

I also think the esc to exit Sketcher should be off by default. For new users it is frustrating to hit esc to exit a command, but exit sketcher instead.

I also don't want the Blender mouse mode as default. It should be CAD.

Maybe a separate pack for commonly selected mouse modes...

PreferencePacks don't save window layout, toolbar layout, default start-up workbench ... so not really adapted for the task.
try the Assembly4 workbench for FreCAD — tutorials here and here

Hmm...that might explain it the stuff I'm seeing. I actually used the config you posted the other day...

I actually didn't use the saved pack you posted later.
