how to trim in 2d

hi all

not new to cad , but new to Freecad,

I have 2 questions, 1, in 2d how do i trim, ie cut one shape from another, say a corner off a rectangle " a fat L shape"

2nd question

how do I draw a solid wire through 90 deg bend of 16mm dia

if i could make freecad my main cad program i would be very happy , thank you all for your hard work
