I'm a brand new user of FreeCAD on Mac OS X.
I need to build a simple 2d drawing (top view) and I have to put this drawing over an image that I have saved in another file (.jpg or other formats).
I played around with menus but wasn't able to find the function (something like "Import Image" or "Image overlay")
Is it possible?
Thanks to all.

Re: Putting a simple drawing over an image
Hi,
The best way is to use the "Image Plane" feature from the Image workbench. I think that's what you're looking for...

Re: Putting a simple drawing over an image
Thank you.
I've been able to import a picture using the image workbench (only .png - it didn't work with .bmp or .jpg).
I can also draw objects in the 2d drawing but I don't know how to merge the two view into only one.
Is it possible.

Under Tools > Save picture you can create a screenshot of the 3d view.
Re: Putting a simple drawing over an image
Hi wmayer.
I didn't succeed in doing what you suggested.
I still see either the drawing or the picture: I'm not able to see the two combined into a single image.
I need to use a picture taken from google earch (a building seen from the top) and draw few rectangles on the roof.
The final picture should show the combined view: the photo taken from google earh together with the rectangles made with FC.
Do you think it is possible?
thanks.

Hi,
Wouldn't what you want to do be simpler with a graphics program like The Gimp?
