Duplicating slots

Post by saline »

Code: Select all

OS: Windows 10 Version 2009
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.21.31058 (Git)
Build type: Release
Branch: master
Hash: e6c53d8642af36ce7d738ab6058b063ec58e0859
Python 3.8.13, Qt 5.15.4, Coin 4.0.0, Vtk 9.1.0, OCC 7.6.3
Locale: English/United States (en_US)
Installed mods:
  * Help 1.0.3
  * sheetmetal 0.2.59
I'm looking for the best way to duplicate slots without having to use the slot feature each time, then having to change all the dimensions. The attached file shows the slots I want to duplicate. I'd like to copy the slot and paste/duplicate it.

You can use Sketcher RectangularArray tool for this purpose. Or Sketcher Copy.

there is not a lot of solution, your distribution is something, you can just use the functions "Equal" and construction lines to limit the nb of dimensions to enter

You can Copy, Clone or Link any object like this, not only Sketch:

Finally a post that contains the required info... :D

What you are looking to do is not the recommended way in FC.

Generally it is better practice to make a simple sketch and propagate through feature patterns.

So given the file it should probably look something like this....

I have not replicated the dimensions exactly rather given indication of how it should be done.

Excellent! I'm going to try all these, but I have a question. Regarding dprojects' recommendation, how do I get the the magicMove tool bar?

This is not released as separate macro, so you have to install the Woodworking workbench from my github directly.
I don't know what you want to do, it is some kind of PCB? So you can create Pad as board and drill holes "slots" with other tool directly.

I am more into "not-bound modeling", less bound objects than better.

But for regular holes there are other tools:
