Can you recompute my file? Can you recreate the pad?
I tried to create the part from scratch using your suggestions but had no luck. I tried by using a hole and using a pad but failed miserably. I don't understand the concept of how the text gets linked to the inside surface of the lid.

I was able to open your file and change the lid to the size I wanted. However, I see no way to edit the text. The lid is larger so the text doesn't cover from side to side. It appears there is no way to change the actual text or move it. As an example if I wanted the text to say "TEST" and move it to the lower half of the lid.

From the videos I see online it appears that if the text was on top of the lid it would be easier. The fact that there is a hole or a pad involved appears to make the process much more difficult. I am completely new to CAD so basically I know nothing.

This is quite some effort, but you should describe the steps in detail and upload the final result. We should then be able guide you.

After watching several videos and several hours of working with FreeCAD I figured out how to create the lid from scratch. I created the cylinder and put a hole in it using a flat drill bit that was 1.2 mm shorter than the cylinder. I then placed the text on the surface that wasn't removed and extruded it 1.1 mm above the surface. The FreeCAD file and STL file is attached. Does anyone see a problem with it? After running the STL file through the Cura slicer it appears it will print with no issues.

You have the text on the top of the lid. I want the text to be on the inside of the lid.

If you do that the text will be reversed and backwards. The text has to be placed and extruded on the inside edge.

Your image confirms exactly what I said. Text is totally reversed.

Attached image shows what my solution result is. This is what I wanted.

If the ShapeString was inside a body with MapMode and Support, you can set Map Reversed to True.
