I've got what i'm sure will be a simple problem for someone to answer.
I've used a lot of CAD for 20+ years and use autocad + bricscad + revit for my day job. I have used inventor and fusion 360 in the past but man I cannot find a solution to this.
Say I want to make a bracket between 2 objects such as those shown in the next screenshot
Logic would say, create a part, then body, then sketch on the face of object one, copy the face of the other part to the sketch, and then pad it, and then do the same on the other part.
I know I've done this in fusion 360 in the past by I am determined to learn freecad, hence this is just one of the things that bugs me is I cannot seem to "copy the face of the other part to the sketch".
My freecad version below: (I run the same setup on linux and windows across a few machines).

Re: Help, copy face from another part
can you upload a hand sketch with the desired result?
Re: Help, copy face from another part
The Part (Std_Part, yellow icon) is not necessary.
Simply create a new Body, select the face and create a Shapebinder or subshapebinder. It will be in the new body. It can be Pad'd or used to import geometry into a new sketch.

We believe that youtube video are the worst choice as many of them are made for old FC version or by people that use wrong workflows (usually to make only scores to have some money in return for people viewing theirs video and see the included advertisement).robertspark wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 9:07 pm OHHH!!!!

Usually it is better to ask here and maybe you will be advised even to some video made by competent people (there are some left around).
