Filleting Problems

I'm making something of a box. Beginning with a sketch that is sort of U shaped sketch that I padded I then made some sketches I padded to form caps to place on the ends of the box. I have been trying to fillet the insides of the box where the long body of the box meets the end caps. The first screenshot shows that I can make the fillets, but the other screenshots that zoom in closer reveal the problems in greater detail.

The screenshots show that at the top rear of the box there are problems with the fillet. Changing the size of the fillet changes the problem. With the fillet set to 1 mm a little shelf of material appears above the box. With the fillet set to 1.5mm a little mountain appears. These things only seem to occur at the rear corner. Plus, at the rear corner the fillet turns toward the outside of the box instead of the inside of the box, The direction of the fillet at the front corner is what I'm looking for. Perhaps due to the angles of the parts?

I don't know if I need to model the box some other way, or fillet it some other way. I do need those internal corners rounded, however. I rounded them on the long dimension within the sketch but at the ends of the of I have two parts meeting so I'm trying to fillet between two parts, not simply along the edge of one part. Is there a way I can accomplish this?

Thanks.

Just refine the model before filleting, then all is neat.

Pad001 : Refine = true
You should not sketch upon face : TNP

You should avoid blank zone in your pictures : I was waiting them to end downloading

How is one supposed to know when to refine? Is it something to do regularly or just one unexpected problem occur?

It has very good constructive and technical reasons, but i do not have time now, i write it later.

Before refine (when the adjacent coplanar faces are fused), the corner counts 5 edges.
After refine, a useless seam dissapears ant the filet can work.

I'm not sure what that means.

10.4. I'm working on a system where I don't have access to a photo editor with which I'm familiar and I haven't figured out how to crop with the software I'm using. I will look again for that because I'd prefer not to send images with blank space. Sorry to make you wait an extra 1/10 second for the extra download time :)

By any chance are you (or anybody else for that matter) aware of a discussion anywhere on using "refine". A quick search on YouTube turned up a few things which I will look at, but if there is a written disillusion somewhere I'd be interested to see it. Thanks.
