Split a mold object

Post by Giterdun »

I've created this file to try to create a mold for an object. I want to split it in the middle and save the 2 halves, but I'm having a hard time understanding how to make that happen.. I've looked extensively in the documentation and this forum, but I can't seem to find the solution that works. I can make the split in Part/Cross section, but I can't get it to split and keep the 2 halves. Would appreciate any guidance on how to do this.. Thanks..

Create a datum plane, select the part and that plane and use the Part SliceApart tool.

make Tube less high so that it makes 2 parts of the mold, with the disaggregate tool of Draft (big blue arrow down) get 2 solids
rework it , there is an unmoldable fillet

@Giterdun :

* see PartDesign_Revolution
* see PartDesign_PolarPattern
* see Taper angle (PartDesign_Pad)
* your DatumPlane is useless for what you are showing.
* the ribs shoulb be round at the outside edge

* your sketches are ... awful, you should read chrisb lecture : https://forum.freecadweb.org/memberlist ... ile&u=5646 > see signature
* Sketch004 should not be paddable due to T-junction
* Sketch010 : use Sketcher_ConstrainSymmetric and/or Sketcher_ConstrainEqual

Give your full info (see red banner above).

- Where do you expect the parting line plane?
- You should give a draft angle to your part, perpendicular to this plane.
