sheetmetal created extentions can not be edited in sketch

Post by Jack4Keck »

Hello together, I am new and excuse me, if I am asking stupid question. I created some shape with sheetmetal starting with polstered rectangle, but I can´t edit any of the parts in sketch mode to modify the shape. If I open it in sketch, every line I create is somewhere in the space but not in the surface I want to catch. I want to cut off diagonal the 2 edges, yellow marked.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

You can attach your model here for further investigation. If you properly choose the origin of the model, it should be easy to attach a sketch to a main plane and do a pocket.

You can also try the MiterAngle of SheetMetal
A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.

you can place the sketch on the general plane parallel to the face and use the external reference to limit the sketch and make a pocket "through all symmetrical" or a subtractive pad

I am so sorry, the version is probably the newest one, just installed on last Sunday:

OS: Windows 10 Version 2009
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.20.29177 (Git)
Build type: Release
Branch: releases/FreeCAD-0-20
Hash: 68e337670e227889217652ddac593c93b5e8dc94
Python 3.8.10, Qt 5.15.2, Coin 4.0.1, Vtk 8.2.0, OCC 7.6.2
Locale: German/Germany (de_DE)
Installed mods:
* sheetmetal 0.2.56

In the mean time I managed to create a circle whole in this part, but the sketched triangle, I can´t remove by pocket function :-( .
Another question, how to remove the "bendings" which are left, after I reduced the lenght of the attached bended sheet (green marked).
The file is attached for the investigation by the experts. Thanks in advance.
Jack

the sketch must be exactly positioned at the edges of the side to be cut
