Hi. I am still a beginner and teaching myself Freecad. have searched the forum but have yet to find the reason behind the logic of the selection order-
1.) Preferred selection order when applying constraints: vertices/ line then the constraint or reverse?
2.) Parent/child: is that correct text?
Thanks,
Benny

Unfortunately, the selection order in FreeCAD is inconsistent - some tools require you to select the geometric entities first, some have to be enabled before selecting the geometry and others allow for both types of selection. The upside is that the Sketcher constraints belong to the last group - you can enable them first or select the geometry and then use them.

In sketcher, there is not always symmetry between [tool then selection] and [selection then tool].
Eg. :
* One vertex + Vertical dimension -> vertical dimension between this point and the origin
* Vertical dimension + TWO vertexes -> you have to select the origin if you want it (key Z,O)
