Constraining points by angle.

Post by rob »

Hi All,

I'm new to FreeCAD so please be nice.

I apologise if this has been asked before, and I've just failed to find it..

I'm trying to recreate a 3D view for a cooled (not cooling) pipe.
i.e. a larger pipe with small cooling ducts embedded in the walls.
There are no real pressure concerns, but thermal variance needs to be avoided..

The model I created used a large number of length constraint methods, and whilst workable...

I was hoping that it might be possible to create the same effect more simply.

Either 1. By drawing the pipe wall and constraining each lining hole to a range/bearing from centre ref vertical.
Or 2. By drawing a 10' arc section (cross section) of the pipe wall complete with cooling and then padding - spinning the result into a completed model..

With 1. I can't see a method for constraining the angle between 3 points.
With 2. I can draw and constrain the section, but the next steps are eluding me.

Option 3 More than welcome :)

I'm assuming that I'm just being dumb, because it should be the simplest of things, an inner/outer circle pair with regularly dispersed smaller circles between them.

Any help welcome :)

Thanks in advance
Rob.

One small complication is that the cooling ducts are closer to the outer wall than the inner, so equidistant doesn't work...

Yes...

Exactly like this...

Lets me guess, 30 seconds.......

Thanks :)

Can I come back if I don't see how you did it?
