Help with .stl to Gcode

Post by Barrie »

I have 3 days experience with FreeCad and watched many tutorials but need more direct help to proceed with my first project. I use Sketch to create 3D geometry and imported it into FreeCAD as an .stl file. I want to create Gcode for my 3018 CNC machine. The attachment represents a block of wood with an outline of text embedded into the wood. I want to engrave the outlines with a V bit. The .stl object was a solid in sketchUp prior to exporting. I don't know if it is a FreeCad solid. The attachments show the level I have reached in freeCad, What are the next steps I need to learn in order to create the Gcode?
