Experience with solidworks

Post by allonmorris »

I have some modeling experience with solidworks..

When using an angled datum for a pad.

1. Create a datum, select face
2. Rotate datum -30º Y axis
draw geometry (on activated datum) then "close"
select Pad POOF all geometry is GONE!!!! except pad
I clicked on ok out desperation and got an error

Pad: Result has multiple solids. This is not supported at this time

That is often a negative...you have to forget how xyz works in other CAD program

For example in this case the answer is " yes, exactly what you would expect and the error message tells you exactly what is wrong, user error"

A Body is a single contiguous solid, you tried to do an operation that would produce more than one single solid, hence it is not valid, hence the error message telling you so.

In Partdesign WB your Body is a single solid, the Pads etc are features of that single solid, definitely not another solid.
🙂

Make sense?
