Transparent model feature removed?

Post by PrzemoF »

It's a question from the Polish forum. The video shows the feature, but it seems to be missing in the latest versions. Was it a feature or bug? Anyway, kaktus (our mage-translator) wants it back! :D

I am using:

Code: Select all

OS: Windows 10 (10.0)
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.19.22846 (Git)
Build type: Release
Branch: master
Hash: 1f46b72491a0008384a6db4f2615a656249f6f08
Python version: 3.8.6
Qt version: 5.12.5
Coin version: 4.0.0
OCC version: 7.4.0
Locale: English/United Kingdom (en_GB)
and I can't get this feature either
If you find out how it is supposed to work, I would be grateful for some explanation, please.

select the Part Design workbench, right click on the model part and click Appearance and you'll see Transparency under the "Display" section.

But it might not work on Halloween...

So for the sake of completeness I made a video with the recent 0.19 local build (straight from master) and it works as expected: Could Some of people complaining (no offence) show what is actually happening when they try that?

Thanks a lot!
That is what I was hoping to see (having seen this effect in other Youtube vids)

not complaining  (and no offence taken), just observing...
When I try this, instead of highlighted/yellow/translucent body etc, I get green bounding box edges?

To rule out graphic card issue I also tried a build dowloaded from the GitHub page with integrated graphics. At beginning it reports "OpenGL version is: 4.4 (4.4.0 - Build 21.20.16.5068)" instead of " OpenGL version is: 4.6 (4.6.0 NVIDIA 445.75)" so it was running with integrated graphics. But still highlighting works. What is your reported OpenGL version?

Code: Select all

Renderer: GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER/PCIe/SSE2
Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Version: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 442.59
Shading language version: 4.60 NVIDIA
As for what FreeCAD is actually using?... don't know how to check, sorry

After digging in the settings I found that there is actually a setting for that. Since I had my config reset recently I think that this is the default value.

But here I get a preselection even with those settings unticked but with a different brownish color... weird...
