Works fine on:
1. Select the part in 3D view (if you skip this step the right click window won't show the Appearance option)
2. Right click -> Appearance (or Ctrl-D instead)
3. Change Transparency in side panel

Menu: Tools -> Edit Parameters
On the tree: BaseApp -> Preferences-> View
Key: ShowSelectionBoundingBox
Key value: false
additionally in preferences
General -> Selection tab
Preselect the object in 3D view when mouse over the tree item - checked
Display -> Colors tab
first two options - checked
This option is very useful when working with complex shapes or those that are supposed to have empty spaces inside ...
