Hello together,
a simple problem: a cylinder should be moved 5 mm along a line in the 3d-room. I tried several things, but no success.
I am sure it´s simple, but in the moment it´s a wall to me.
thank´s a lot.

Right click in the tree on your object, select "Transform". Arrows translate, spheres rotate.

thanks,
I see the arrows, but how to move some mm in the blue direction?

Your task/aufgaben panel should now allow you to input the linear step in mm and the angular step in degree. To actually move you simply click and drag the arrow. You need to click on the pointy end.
Re: how? object positioning along a line in the 3D-room
Yes indeed, it´s possible to move manual in the direction of the blue arrow, it´s a raster maybe 5 mm, 1 or 3 are not possible.
to change the values, yes but then the object is somewhere beside the targetline.
but this manual step helps.

ok, ok, linear steps have to be defined in the transformation tool box.
great, thank´s for help, sometimes it needs a little bit passion and a relax beer.

Hey happy to help.
Further: Check out the Manipulator Workbench for advanced movement/alignment. Great set of tools.

Placement task dialog can be used to move an object, such as the cylinder, in the direction of some arbitrary line. That's what the Selected points and Apply axial buttons do.
To do this, select the cylinder and open the placement task dialog.
Then select one point at the end of the line you want to use as a reference, then holding Ctrl click also the opposite end of the line. Click Selected points button. This sets up an axis in the direction from the first point to the second point.
Enter the distance desired in the Axial spinbox, in this case 5 mm, then click Apply axial to move the cylinder in that direction 5 mm.

Re: how? object positioning along a line in the 3D-room
If the move's not orthogonal but has a line or edge to define the direction, I sometimes trace another line along the vector, make it the length I want the transform to be, and snap the move from the new line's origin to end. It's unwieldy, but accurate.e
