I need to make a much simplified model of a part (quadcopter landing gear) which has curves in 3 dimensions and I don't know how to get started.
Referring to the attached photos of the part I want to model, I am thinking a sweep is sensible but how can I prepare a path along which to sweep since the path needs to be in 3D space.

This is a german post, but the images should show the idea of this technique which is sometimes referred to as "Wilfried's trick".

Re: How to sweep along a path in 3D
You can merge 2 sketchs with joincurves feature (Curves Wb) together. Then you will get a 3D Path.

This is a rough starting point but all seems well - thanks again
