Firstly many thanks to Papyblaise for his guidance on the brick walls construction, I was trying to create in PartDesign WB instead of Sketcher.
This windmill Labelled "DE ZWALUW" te ZUURDIJK (gem. LEENS) GRONINGEN. Circa 1858.
Plans on the internet drawn and posted by J.A.M. DE WAAL on http://www.modelesavapeur.com/groupeder ... index.html
The lower brick walls file size 18.7 MB.

Re: Dutch Windmill
Great work.
Could you list FreeCAD version and workbenches used? Would you also be willing to share the FCStd file for others to examine?
-Regards

Re: Dutch Windmill
Sorry I misread your post, The sail turret is not fixed, so it would be able to rotate around 'Z' axis as a model, however the sails are not connected to any Millstones but would also be able to turn on their spindle.
Re: Dutch Windmill
Using,
The brick walls were constructed using Sketcher, Part and Draft work benches, all other parts produced in PartDesign work bench, all parts are saved as individual file and all brought together and assembled in A2plus 0.4.56a work bench
The Folder of parts is over 32MB so impossible to share here, the lower wall file alone is 18.7MB.
Attached image of the walled parts which are each made as one part rather than individual walls and buttresses indicated in the plans
I could attach a snip of the tree for the walls and dependancy graph if that is of any help.
Thanks for your interest.
Code: Select all
OS: Windows 10 (10.0)
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.20.28717 (Git)
Build type: Release
Python 3.8.13, Qt 5.12.9, Coin 4.0.0, OCC 7.5.3
Locale: English/United Kingdom (en_GB)
Installed mods:
* A2plus 0.4.56a
* animation
* ArchTextures
* Assembly4 0.3.44
* CubeMenu
* Curves 0.4.56a
* ExplodedAssembly
* fasteners 0.3.44

Re: Dutch Windmill
Amazing ! Noted it is not built with Arch/BIM WB !
Wondering if this could be built in other BIM software ? Worth to cross-post this in Arch/BIM sub-forum / OSArch forum @bitacovir ?

Re: Dutch Windmill
I did use Arch WB for the walls construction, I ommitted to include in earlier post (must be the heat).
Re: Dutch Windmill
Thanks. Would be great if you can make a tutorial on the creation process
