Not really a FreeCAD project as such, but I'm using FreeCAD to view it, and it was seeing the David Scanner info on the FreeCAD webpage that made me first think about it. A couple of weeks, and my first OO python code later, and here's the first experimental results from earlier today:
Clearly plenty of tweaking required, but the fundamentals are there. I need to make the code better at compensating for real world inaccuracies (dodgy integrated webcam, cheapskate laser line etc), since it works beautifully on POVRay generated images. Also think it shouldn't be too hard to create some surface data, though I don't anticipate this being particularly complete.
Anyway, I'm quite pleased, particularly given I've never coded anything as complex as this before.
Cheerio!
