Here comes Paper Clip Pack Man...

Found a paper clip animation a GIF on GrabCAD... And thought i can do this easy in FreeCAD. Little changes to my previous design allowed to open and close the clip using the spread sheet. For the clip handles position i had to use the A2plus workbench to make them follow the movement according to the constraints. Than i was going forth and back between the A2plus and the spread sheet windows, changing the value of the opening of the paper clip and the colour since it went back to standard grey every "frame". 8 picks in total done!

And the GIF itself is made with Gimp...

Cheers.

Hello friends,
FreeCAD Nodes is now an official external workbench :D. This means that you no longer need to set my repo as a costum repository in the addon manager. New nodes and updates are added regularly, you just need to update the workbench in the addon manager from time to time. I'm also thinking about creating a YouTube series on procedural modeling with FreeCAD... However, there are still many fundamental nodes missing, which I will add in the coming weeks. Until then, have fun with FreeCAD... !

Nice :D

It's always great to share the used FreeCAD version too (I'm talking about the full FreeCAD info). And, if possible, share the model (via GitLab for example).

Hello together,

2019 i stared a more detailed 5mm Standard round LED model for KiCAD. To do that i searched the internet and found a nice picture of a LED, the format was SVG. You can find it on this site: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light-emitting_diode. Some days ago i returned to my project to make a even more detailed model including the bonding wire and the chip crystal.

I used the 3D model in conjuction with the Tech Drawing workbench and was able to export a SVG. Due the given option it was possible to get the hidden lines that were in the back of the transparent epoxy casing. I exported two SVG images one was the casing with the lens the other one was the two pins. Ninety percent of the image were done! The last ten percent there was to do, was to cut and delete some lines... I did that with Inkscape. This showcase shows the versatility of FreeCAD, i would never drawn the entire LED using Inkscape!

Hello friends,
the new Voronoi node for FreeCAD Nodes is available! With this node you can split BRep surfaces into Voronoi cells, scale and evaluate them for further modeling (e.g. extrude, extract edges and vertexes, etc.)! This should allow you to model interesting structures for the CNC router!
