From below... Yeah there are always some strange things happening when saving an image when there are transparent objects... Should have done a screenshot instead

Now it makes sense! Before you wrote that, it looked like some kind of illusion to me!

Thanks for posting the images!

Dear yorik,
a short question regaring your workflow.... from somebody not working in this field and want to learn how to use FC for generating building and drawings of them.

It looks like you (always) start from 2D drawings like in 07. Ist this right?
Do you "simply" extrude everything to get your 3D model or do you also create models in 3D and generate 2D drawings of it? I do not want to be offensive, I want to get an impression how usable FC is in this field. Should I use it "only" to visualize a 2D drawing or is it already the right tool to plan a flat/house?

Thanks in advance,
HoWil

For 1, 2, 3. I like the semi transparent house. Is it glass or some kind of acrylic on the walls? How do you control the greenhouse effect?
As suggestion, I would align the toilet to any of both sides rather to keep it in the middle. Additionally you can project the half of the roof (one slope) to cover the toilet. Another thing is to include a deck where the ramp is. That ramp is to height. A smoother ramp can go along of two edges of the deck.

Sorry, but I cannot avoid an architectural critic. :) Good examples of Architectural FreeCAD anyway.

@HoWill not always. In this case, I received 2D "generic" sections of a building, and I was to build more detailed versions of them. So it kind of made sense to start from the 2D drawing, because some parts would not change between the generic and detailed versions, and it's very easy to extrude stuff from these 2D drawings.

But in any case, when dealing with buildings, it's always good to have some 2D to start with, even if it is just the site plan. This depends on the person who does the design, though. I find it easier when I have something existing to start designing from, I am one of those who prefer to "start from the outside". Other designers will prefer the contrary, start from the inside.

@bitacovir :D Thanks! Nowadays unfortunately it's more and more rare that someone gives you good, strong arch critique... It's polypropylene. The greenhouse effect is actually something we count with, to produce air sucking and insert fresh air into the base of the house. If it gets too strong, though, there are things we can do afterwards, such as paint the roof tiles. Also, there should be trees all around. But I agree this is a critical issue, it will have to be studied with great care.

Your two other ideas are very good... We were thinking of having some external floor somewhere, I hadn't thought of putting it where the ramp is, simply! The masonry "house" might be suppressed, though...

Yorik, it's very cool to see your stuff!

I love your wall furniture (how is it called in English?)! But the wood shop guys will probably grumble at seeing those curved panels and tell to themselves "crazy architects"! I know, because I've been on that side of the fence! :D
