The machine posted is radeon.
I just tested on a machine with invidia, same result. (Though I did note the default grid was set 0.0...)

Renaming user.cfg and restarting fixes the problem here.

I think I have found the cause of the issue and also the reason why not everybody was able to reproduce. It all depends on where you click the DatumPlane in the 3D view. If you click an edge the problem does not occur. If you click the face (which is an 'endless' plane) it does. So it is not related to the gridSpacing.

is there anything wrong with using a draft rectangle as a substitute for a datum plane?
