Open Source House with Open Source CAD?
to prove the practicability of freecad, we could create this open-source house incl. ifc file here in the forum. who wants to participate?

Re: Open Source House with Open Source CAD?
to export ifc files it is often better to work with simple copy.
in this example it is extrusion. it is the same for array and shifted groups.

edit
this windows are made with copy/paste and draft move. it works great.

Sounds interesting, I have been trying to build some models exploring a workable and efficient workflow. Extremely busy at the moment but would like to test any suggested workflow.
How do you like to collaborate ?
In fact, if possible, always hope there are structural engineer, building services engineer etc. to work together so it looks more like a real project.

we could build this house complete in freecad with all the details and with the use of ifc we could put together the different trades.

Re: Open Source House with Open Source CAD?
here is a quick way to create sections (with stairs). convert everything into a mesh, create section, activate stairs, measure in draft, print as pdf a0 and colorize inkscape.

There were (are) discussions in the german forum about loading/converting very large ifc-files for using in FC.paullee wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 3:40 pm Sounds interesting, I have been trying to build some models exploring a workable and efficient workflow. When I understand Thomas Neemann correct, this is a BIM-Project using Freecad but the collaboration uses ifc-files alone.
Thomas, right?
My questions:
Should we use the BIM-wb?
What about the level of detail? (rebars, details of connections…)
Including topography around the house?
Should we construct an exact replica or “freestyle”?
I am a structural engineer (steel construction), I can give some statics-mustard…
And I am very busy too atm…however…

i do it for several reasons. the slow techdraw can be avoided for editing. if large ifc files are added as mesh, they can be edited quickly and can also be seen in cut

Re: Open Source House with Open Source CAD?
thanks for your cooperation
I don't know the bim wb yet. If someone works with it, that's good. We get insights.
only ifc is the goal. it should be possible in principle. if in individual cases there are faster ways which are accepted, the methods can be mixed.
my customers do not want a limit and it should be fast.

Arch and BIM WB is basically same.
And there are a lot of aspects I haven't understood how to do - exaclty e.g. LoD, external topography (Geomatic WB seems good, being integrated into Trail)
...
Lot of gaps to fill
