How to create an preference editor tab

Is it possible to write my own preference editor to for my own workbench in python like those for draft or openscad?
I have looked for an example (but still not found).

please have a look at the .ui files in the resource directories of those modules.

They are only present in the repository and not in the binary distribution of FreeCAD.You can view them in the QtDesigner, but i prefer to edit them in a text editor.
