Assembly3: Stairs

Post by rich61 »

Potential Cross-Over Interests between Assembly and Arch workbenches.

I posted a crazy Stairway idea about stairs in the Open Discussion, then it was moved to Draft, Arch & BIM category where only Arch workbench stuff is. That makes some sense, however I think it also has interest to the Assembly Workbench.

A series of Stairway Steps is an Assembly, with Part-Body constraints from one step to the next.

I wonder if there is some simple way of implementing and automating the concepts into Assembly3. It is a very narrow Assembly concept with just one constraint that can define the path of a stairway, almost entirely. Maybe someone has used this method before or maybe it is a dumb idea.

To build a stairway piece by piece in Assembly3 would be a little tedious, but I think it could be highly automated since stairways have to follow rules that predetermine most of the constraint and link parameters.
