There is currently no current FreeCAD version available on that computer.
I suspect it is related to the latest Ubuntu release. It should be possible to start an older version as life system and test it via appimage

So this is your version A (as opposed to my version B) ;)
Amusing thing is, that your "simpler" version, seems more complicated (at least to me :P )
Still... it achieves your goal, I guess?

It was an interesting and entertaining thread
Thank you for the "Challenge" - I have enjoyed it!
I am using Link branch and Assembly3
you can also download ... and try it here

Here is an A2plus assembly but I needed to make a couple parts to place the bearings.

Hi Dan,
Thomas's original spec was just for a one ball.
In real life, the plane in which the balls move, twists with a joint being deflected, like shown below.
(This was BTW part of my assembly3 model) - can you do it this way in A2plus as well?

I think I could come close but a couple things has me stumped. It would take me a while to rebuild all of the parts in FreeCAD, plus the animation would be way sl-ow.

Thank you!
it's just curiosity on my part (not a challenge ;) )
Glad to see that FreeCAD can do things in many different ways... :ugeek:
