(SOLVED) How can I assemble a valve train?

Post by thomas-neemann »

I am trying to assemble 2 step parts.
with draft move i can't find any possibility via snap without additional auxiliary construction. in assembly 3 i get an error message. I'm probably using it wrong.

Edit>Alignment

But, I find it easier to just use Manipulator workbench.

thank you for your cooperation. I am not familiar with alignment. how do i reach the tangent point and how do i move the part only in the z direction?

TBH, the Edit>Aligment tool IMO could be removed from FreeCAD, it is that unusable by mere mortals. ;)

I mention it because it is "out of the box" FreeCAD.

That is why I almost always use Manipulator WB.

Yes, sometimes less is more. the glid in my opinion also for additional macros and wbs. If you want to exchange files with other freecad users or often have to change versions, I find it advantageous out of the box.

That may be the case for some things. But, Manipulator just moves things and leaves nothing that would cause an issue if the file was shared.

if the nock doesn't have a circular arc but a spline, i can't get any further in the skecher because it can't tangent to splines. I can't do it with manipulator either. is there any addon (macro wb) with which you can create it on e.g. 1/100 millimeter?

or does it work with the manipulator? (I am not familiar with it)
