Thanks! that makes sense.
That also explains why it worked in the linkstage3 branch but not the main branch.
I'll use your approach of replacing external geometry items when using the main branch version
I appreciate the explanation

Sketcher offset tool is currently on the wait list to be reviewed by Abdullah.

I'm fairly new to Freecad and stumbled upon this macro for an Offset capability.

When I run the macro I don't get a dialog requesting the offset value. Instead I get a dotted line which I can drag around. Am I doing something wrong or missing a dependency?

That's how it works. You have to drag the line, click somewhere and then you can add a dimension constraint to one of the blue construction lines to specify the offset value.

Fortunately, paddle's offset tool will be available soon.
