Hi all,

I was asked by saso to post the brief introduction I wrote for JModelica over here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Python/comment ... ython_and/

I would like also to invite you all to join the Modelica Language discord channel:

https://discordapp.com/invite/bp2yeYU

Modelica and FLOSS implementations OpenModelica and JModelica are powerful tools, but the community is fragmented. This Discord group IMHO could help get the community more excited and in touch.

Some very good presentations from Modelica Jubilee Symposium – Future Direction of System Modeling and Simulation

And a link to a new topic about the last three presentation (and some related things) on preCICE, DifferentialEquations.jl, DiffEqFlux.jl, SUNDIALS, CasADi, Modia https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=40775

A nice series of videos showing the general concepts and workflows of Modelica and the Engineering V-Model (Diagram) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V-Model, with some basic examples from different domains (fluids, thermal, mechanical, electrical), some more advanced examples and co-simulation examples... In FOSS world this could be for example Papyrus for defining project and systems requirements https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=38307, OpenModelica for systems modeling and simulations, FreeCAD for detailed geometry design and different open FEM/CFD tools for verification...

I take a different position on this. I think it's fine for @saso to keep bumping and keep this thread alive. It's not spam and it is a genuinely awesome feature..it's doing no harm. In fact it's showing that there is interest which can be a signal to a highly motivated dev/s to push past the inertia and start coding. So lets be more encouraging and more patient with each other.

You right is is no harm! In my opinion it is just annoying.

The point is that the direction we want to go to(even if it is a great direction) has some interest for maybe a hand full of people...
and even then FC has to much things that has to be done before it is ready before system engineering in FC got some potential.
As the you called highly motivated devs who are active for FC can better spend time on other things.

Which leave only saso for doing it him self...

Even if it's annoying (for you) or seems inefficient (for you) it's still important (IMO) to be respectful and not narrowing possibilities. Who knows how a person or a small group choosing to hack on a 'non-essential' project can impact FC as a whole. Perhaps they fix the UI or some backend process.
