Why are the paths generated by the path workbench always at 45 degrees?

I know some operations that do and some that do not.

Which paths, which operation, what settings for the operation, what shape in your stock, what version of Freecad.

Pretty hard to give any answer when we have to guess everthing you are doing.

My guess is that you have left the default selection of "zig-zag" as the pattern type.

Change it to whatever you like.

Just mainly watching videos about the path workbench and reading documentation. Everywhere I look, I see 45 degree paths.
