I have now been using FreeCAD daily for nine months, I can say with great joy and appreciation of its builders. I now feel that I am able to express my wishes for improvements to the GUI. I have searched the forum for the subject of automatic transfer of names to modified parts but without success. ...

Re: Introduction to the ThreadProfile WB

Thank you TheMarkster for your comment that allowed me to simplify my original tutorial. I hope at some point to compare the results of using the internal mode and of using only the external mode as I do in the tutorial. Addendum: After execution of the instructions given in the first post of this s...

Introduction to the ThreadProfile WB

A 3d printed project needed a 3/8" -16 rod to tie together several pieces. I decided to try to print the rod using the ThreadProfile WB. This WB can be downloaded via the Tools/Addon manager in FreeCAD. Here I am using a version of 0.19 of FreeCAD. The WB allows for the generation of external a...

Re: Map Mode Attachment without movement of object

Thank you DeepSOIC This is exactly what I would like to see as as a feature of the Map Mode dialogue. To review, the posts of kisolre and DeepSOIC at "https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic. ... 8&start=10" offer two Macros that allow the current goal to be achieved. The two Macros are...

Map Mode Attachment without movement of object

When one uses the Map Mode Attachment tool the object being attached to something else is moved to the point of attachment, it being it a vertex, edge, face or LCS (local coordinate system), etc. The Attachment coordinates are set to 0,0,0. Any previous placement of the object is lost. I would like ...

How to make two parallel surfaces flush

I often find that I have two objects each with a face that is parallel to each other and the need to move one object along a direction perpendicular to the surfaces such that the two surfaces become flush. In my simple example in the photo I have a cylinder and a cube. The objects are oriented arbit...
