Re: Designing model locomotive kits using Assembly and other workbenches
Hi all, when I first had a look at FreeCad I also thought that sheet-metal might be good to make brass-etching-templates. But I think the WB is designated to an other goal in mind. What would be needed would be an unfolding mechanism which keeps track on corners (bendig grooves) where during etchin...

Sheetmetal subfolder in the Development forum?
One more thing: I notice that other major workbenches such as Assembly, Partdesign and FEM have their own folders in the forum.
Given the importance of sheetmetal, is this time now to set up a dedicated folder for sheetmetal workbench-related threads?

[Feature request] Sheetmetal support for half cuts from each side and autoexport for lasercutting and photo etching
I am designing a sheetmetal part, which apart from being folded, it will also be sent off to be either laser-cut or photo etched https://www.ppdltd.com/artwork-guide.html In the case of photo etching, I will need to specify whether the subtraction of material is through, or half from the top side or...

... * sheetmetal processed by lasercutting, waterjet cutting or photo etching... Your design workflow should start by talking to the suppliers (I am assuming you will outsource) Here an example: https://www.ppdltd.com/artwork-guide.html There is a lot more to model photo etch than simply sheetmetal...

Designing model locomotive kits using Assembly and other workbenches
Say if I were to design a part, which comprises of: * solids that are made by CNC, 3D printing or casting; * sheetmetal processed by lasercutting, waterjet cutting or photo etching followed by folding; and * soldering and/or welding of the above parts together to form the finished part then an assem...

Re: Assembly 4 workbench
I have just installed Freecad 0.19.1 on my computer, and like to play with the assembly 4 github code. Suppose if I check out the main branch into a directory, then how can I make FreeCAD uses the github directory assembly 4, instead of the stock plugin? 1) thank-you for your interrest in this code...

Re: loose, transition and interference fit in Assembly 4
So in assembly 4, how can one implement loose fit, transition fit and interference fit? In my experience, assembly fits are applied to individual models or drawing dimensions not the assembly. Perhaps this would be better implemented in the TechDraw workbench if at all. However, the crux of an asse...

Re: loose, transition and interference fit in Assembly 4
So in assembly 4, how can one implement loose fit, transition fit and interference fit? It would be great if the workbench and the assembly data structure has a way to specify loose fit and interference fit, in particular the amount of interference. This is an interesting question ... in today's im...
