Re: Please cut an 0.18.5 release
JFYI - the 0.18.5 has already arrived downstream with Arch Linux 2 days ago. I still prefer the current 0.19dev AppImage (and the exquisite AppImageUpdate mechanism which worked like a charm 23058->23141) as the 0.18.5 seems pretty much unusable, tbh. From where I stand, the AppImage should be the g...

Re: Bug submission guidelines
That's the point of the OP; what you consider bugs, aren't necessarily. Your own statements here show you aren't attempting to learn how the software works, but are attempting to use it assuming your expectations are how it works. Follow the guidelines, list your issues in the forum, learn how to u...

My Tapeworm-thread of observed FreeCAD bugs
As mentioned in https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5236&start=20#p455303 It's basically just a stack - really. Until further notice, observed in this version/environment. OS: Arch Linux (/usr/bin/startxfce4) Word size of OS: 64-bit Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit Version: 0.19.231...

Re: UI HiDPI configuration (once and for all)
Hm. I assumed that me reading "the available docs" - would be considered "done". So the magic lever (right now and for me) is: > QT_SCALE_FACTOR=0.5 ./FreeCAD_0.19-23141-Linux-Conda_glibc2.12-x86_64.AppImage This helps a lot with the look&feel in general. Font size doesn't lo...

Re: Bug submission guidelines
With all due respect, I have to state that neither yorick, nor Kunda1, nor chrisb et al. are qualified enough to set up a FreeCAD bug reporting process. ;) And why is that? It's simple: You guys are way too knowledgeable with FreeCAD, know your ways and therefore probably already intuitively are abl...

UI HiDPI configuration (once and for all)
Hey guys, My 4k screen really isn't that new anymore - it was 4 years ago, but meanwhile one would think software has catched up with high resolutions. Unfortunately, it seems some Qt applications have a hard time even in (late) 2020 and FreeCAD being one of them. Using the newest 0.19dev AppImage o...

Re: Default to relative displacement in "Edit / Placement..."
If you have to move such an amount of objects uniformly you can crate a compound of them, move it and then use OpenSCAD workbench to explode the compound while keeping the placement of the objects inside. I've done something similar. Compound -> Copy -> Draft Workbench -> Move (the whole group)

Re: Default to relative displacement in "Edit / Placement..."
Yeah - I agree. So after having clicked it 24 times today - 96 to go... did the idea get lost until-including 0.19-23141 ?

Re: Hello, new user testing FreeCAD for Architecture/BIM
As for files with problems: The easier question would be "which files do not exhibit problems?" As these are in the absolute minority ;) Some examples: http://openifcmodel.cs.auckland.ac.nz/ Just browsing and tried the "Convenience Store" IFC which you probably see on the main pa...

Hello, new user testing FreeCAD for Architecture/BIM
Hi there & cheers, I thought I'd give FreeCAD a spin to see how (or if at all) it could be used for Architecture/BIM modelling. OSS is not a new topic for me. Whenever possible, I try to avoid a vendor lock-in (and so far it did pay off or I am/was painfully reminded when a vendor managed to loc...
