Re: poor frame rate if I use displaylink dock and external screens

If you do the simplest form of research you'll see that Displaylink is specifically designed for applications that are mainly static such as email, spreadsheets etc not gaming, 3D apps so your feedback is exactly what is expected.

Re: Having trouble using RENDER WB with Blender

In the preferences-render screen I placed to the blender.exe path (I see that there is an automatic parameter: --samples 100). I'm not sure where you've read (unless something major has changed recently and the README hasn't been updated) that the user can just point the Wb at Blender, I've always ...

Re: Can I install Freecad on an external hard drive?

chrisb the temp files are never cleared, it's always been the user's responsibility to do this by their own schedule. The OP needs to use the 'portable' install and extract it directly to the external drive, I personally wouldn't be as concerned with the cfg files and Addons being on C: as the user...

Re: what's going on with shapestring?

@looo are you aware that the Python 3.10.x Windows Conda build produces the error raised by the OP but the Python 3.8.x equivalent on the same box with the same font is fine?

Re: Helix computing very slow. How to do performance code changes?

I tested using your file and it take 14 seconds to do any change to the thread. I would definitely look at the Fasteners Wb, the M4 default thread is configurable with custom pitch, length, left hand/right hand and it's way quicker at updating, like 14 times quicker. The wb has in it's Preferences s...

Re: Can I install Freecad on an external hard drive?

There is only 14 GB free space left. I install on a G: drive so that's not an issue but you're probably not aware that the Temp and Tmp variables which by default point to the C: drive are used for all sorts of 'dross' and aren't automatically cleaned up on closing FreeCAD so you've been warned.

Re: help of a project

That really isn't a very efficient way to model, firstly forget the Part container unless you are doing assemblies, I've been using FreeCAD since 0.16 for real work and never needed them. If you look at the attached file you will see how I would model something along the lines that you want (there's...

Re: Part Design workbench and Gear

Maybe I did not express myself correctly. Repositioning of the gear is possible while I am in the Timing gear. In the moment I drag the gear into body and add a sketch it goes back to the XY plane ... Purely from a workflow point of view I would create the shafts for the gears to reside first and t...
