As to which version to use, well that's where it gets subjective, if you want pure Windows then you'll have to stick with OpenFOAM version 8 which I believe @thschrader uses and Thomas is way more qualified to comment on this.

So more than one distro is affected so it's pretty serious regression IMHO.

@freman please take note as you use Fedora 38, I would recommend not updating until I can understand what's going on.
