Re: Part Helix used in Part Design Sweep

OK ... The 'PreRelease' label, added to your reassurance sold it to me, so I've now got both. 0.19 seems quite happy with my collection of models including my helical trial so I'll be using it for ongoing work. Ironically (doesn't matter to me now) the Gears workbench isn't in the extensive list of ...

Re: Part Helix used in Part Design Sweep

Yes but 0.19 is beyond my comfort zone at the moment. After thinking about it, one of the options in the thread cutting tutorial has got me started using part workbench rather than part designer. I'm still not sure what frenet means except that it turns the swept shape in the way that does the job! ...

Re: Part Helix used in Part Design Sweep

Thanks for responding chrisb, a couple of points. First and most worrying (because it complicates things) I can't get the Gears workbench because Tools-Addon manager only shows me one entry under Workbenches, namely 3D_Printing_Tools. I'm a user running: OS: Windows 10 Word size of OS: 64-bit Word s...

Re: Part Helix used in Part Design Sweep

Apologies for joining uninvited - especially if I'm in the wrong place. I'm a competent novice, by which I mean I can design pretty well anything I can visualise that I need to do a job. I exclude works of art! The one missing tool for me is extension with twist. I can live with the same presumed ax...

Re: Bugs/Issues Blocking v0.19 Release (+ WB/Addon devs check-in about Roadmap for 0.19 release)

You may want to consider including Bug 0004487 in the blocking list. It causes a hang that looks like a deadly embrace - puts scheduler into 100%. For anybody working on the bug, after successfully playing with this same fillet on the first version, the bug appeared after a deep down parametric chan...

Re: Replacing external constraints on a broken model

Thanks for the tip - my routine library of user routes is the minimum I have needed to get 3D printed parts out, so those nuggets are exactly what I'm missing. The problem file is not meant to be a complete product - I had that in an earlier version of the part. I was exploiting the virtue of a para...

Re: Replacing external constraints on a broken model

OK it still happens on: OS: Windows 10 (10.0) Word size of OS: 64-bit Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit Version: 0.19.22319 (Git) Build type: Release Branch: master Hash: 33ef4e0e35fba74c6e2fa3829cfd15c4b6f67e94 Python version: 3.6.8 Qt version: 5.12.1 Coin version: 4.0.0a OCC version: 7.3.0 Locale: Engl...

Re: Replacing external constraints on a broken model

Thanks for responding. 1. I'm downloading 0.19.22319 to try - will report back. 2. I used validate sketch to delete external dependencies - I have never needed to venture any further into it. My oblique face is nearly parallel to the x-z plane so I don't think I need to worry about reversed external...

Replacing external constraints on a broken model

There are logical problems with editing low levels in an existing model, and broken sketches have to be fixed by removing external constraints. I have always been able to fix them until now. I have two symmetrical sketches on oblique faces which both need mending. I have successfully mended the firs...
