Re: CAM? PLM?

Hi bwithrow, The DXF importer we have now in FreeCAD is something quite limited, and made more for the purpose of the 2D drafting module. So most probably you'll get many things that don't import (blocks, hatches, dimensions, etc) and possibly files that won't import at all. If you are interested in...

Re: Illegal storage access...

I got "illegal storage access" again! But good news, this time I could track the problem a bit further down... When I moved away the .FreeCAD folder, a new one got recreated, and everything went normal again. So I suspected something went wrong in the cfg files. Actually, one of them conta...

Re: Illegal storage access...

Okay, problem solved. I rebuilt it all (without generating swig) and now it works fine. I must have touched something I shouldn't the first time... I'll have some test with it now. Thanks for the help Werner... I think if you do a search on this forum for the most used words, probably it will be &qu...

Re: Illegal storage access...

Currently in the Part module we have the methods Part.__toPythonOCC__() and Part.__fromPythonOCC__() to exchange the TopoDS_Shape's. Wow, you are that far already!!! out of curiosity do you have a short example for me? I just sent this to their mailing list, but I don't know if it's a bug or not: d...

Re: Illegal storage access...

i downloaded from svn... they say it evolved very far since the 0.1... i had some email talk with Thomas and Jelle, the two pythonOCC programmers... They had a look at FreeCAD already. I think maybe some cool things could come out of this. I'll see what are their thoughts about packaging, but I saw ...

Re: Illegal storage access...

I built it on debian, like this: go into src folder, edit environment.py so that OCC_LIB is /usr/lib and OCC_INC is /usr/include/opencascade (the doc says /usr/include, I needed a stupidly long time to figure out), then: python setup.py build -generate_swig they say -generate_swig is not necessary b...

Re: Illegal storage access...

Actually I still cannot compile Pivy together with FreeCAD (I used one I compiled myself from the Teemu's debian package above)... It seems that there is a difference. If I downloade the latest svn version of pivy from the official site, I can compile, but it doesn't work. What a bore! I just downlo...

Re: Import ACIS .sat files into FreeCAD?

and when you think there IS an opencascade plugin to import ACIS... http://www.opencascade.org/support/prod ... taex/acis/
but alas, it's not free! My secret hope is that the OCC guys see that their opensource model is beginning to give fruits, and they decide to go further... One can dream ;)

other small suggestion: what would you think of putting the wiki homepage as freecad homepage, instead of the current one? it gets quickly outdated...

Re: News & Roadmap

I made a small improvement to the draft module, the upgrade/downgrade tools now work very good, thanks to Jagaudin, and the cursor now changes to a cross when you are required to pick a point. Next thing now, I attack the circle interface...
