Re: obj export / meshing
This is interesting anyway. I had no idea OBJ supported nurbs surfaces... An interesting question, however, would be: Are there other apps out there that support it? Otherwise, it would have not much use.

Re: Real-world meetup (Fosdem 2023)
Also: The Brussels hackerspace is reserved for FreeCAD on thursday feb 2nd, so we (at least me, kkremitzky, jnxd and maybe we'll see chennes appear) will occupy the space and do some FreeCAD coding. Feel free to come if you're around! Also(2): we should setup a communication channel (telegram, matri...

Re: Real-world meetup (Fosdem 2023)
In any case, FOSDEM will be fun, and a chance to meet other developers. Also, the opentoolchain foundation has offered to share their stand with us. Does anyone volunteer to man the stand for a couple of hours? I think we could prepare a couple of demo models, and it would be mostly stay there and r...

Re: Real-world meetup (Fosdem 2023)
BTW Me and @jnxd 's talks at FOSDEM have been refused, mostly because there is only one afternoon for all design-related talks. So basically we have no FreeCAD talk this year :/

Re: Case Study: Musescore (FLOSS cross-platform sheetmusic/scorewriter) UI/UX
Maybe what we would need is to really step back and start a process from scratch, ie. analyze what specifically would actually be wrong or optimizable in the FreeCAD UI, and propose paths to get there, that would be doable the community way. It's no small task...

Re: Case Study: Musescore (FLOSS cross-platform sheetmusic/scorewriter) UI/UX
The way I understand it, QML allows you to design way more advanced and customized widgets than the basic widgets that come built-in with Qt. In their case, there were a lot of things they wanted to do that wasn't possible/available with standard widgets. An really the result is stunning. However, a...

Re: Integration of BlenderBIM Feaures : FreeCAD Arch/BIM
Interesting! I'll check that file too. It might have particularities regarding sites/buildings... Note that the importer now has a "Mesh" import mode, which is much faster than the Shape mode. It should take less memory too. The general idea is that the mesh mode is good enough just to vie...
