Re: Making object parametric (dependent on other object)
Sal, I have not played around with the new Part Design Next workbench yet. I recently upgraded my desktop work-station and am now dual booting windows and Ubuntu. So I just downloaded the Ubuntu Daily build PPA a few days ago and haven't had time to take a look yet. That seems like a pretty awesome ...

Re: Making object parametric (dependent on other object)
Sal, Absolutely you are able to make these parametric. This is one of the things that I have been using FreeCAD to do. I have a user input a value corresponding to a variable and then it changes all dimensions which are in some way based on that variable. You will need to do this from the spreadshee...

Re: Can someone tell me what i am doing wrong?
Hi! You are probably referring to some rendering bugs. I have them too, occasionally. Switching camera to perspective, then back to orthographic seems to help. When I downloaded the part I too had rendering issues at the corners, but this fixed that issue. Just click P --> O and it should remove th...

Re: Snapping Question
Devastat0r, Thank you for explaining more about your issue. I hope we can solve this or someone else can look into it and know what to do. When following your three step reproduction it did not seem to work in the same way for me. When I click on a plane in Draft and right click --> Utilities --> Se...

Re: Parametric dimensions from vertices???
I promised to myself I'm going to do it if someone complains about it. Please don't expect it to happen quickly, though  Thank you for implementing this in the future. I do not mean to complain, just pointing out that it was not a viable option for my application. Let me know if there is anyt...

Re: Garden Railway Coach O&K
Great job, Vailala! Looks awesome, and I am sure you put in quite a few hours for this. Will you update with a picture of the printed Railway Coach? I would like to see how it turns out. I see that you mentioned you will be printing brass and stainless steel. Do you own a metal printer or are you ha...

Re: Snapping Question
Devastat0r, I am a little confused what you are trying to do? Can you reexplain? If you are trying to draw using draft then you should be able to snap to parts of the solid already. If you would like to use sketcher then you can map the sketch and create a link to external geometry which you can dim...

Re: Is FEM Running?
Hmm I am not sure though. Maybe I did something wrong or the software is not performing correctly. When I found the area of the top face using Mario52's FCInfo Macro http://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/index.php?title=Macro_FCInfo#Script I found the cross sectional area of the long beams to be 0.00099528...

Forgot to add the material screenshot...
For some reason it would not let me add it to the last comment (but the size of all the pictures were pretty small)

Re: Is FEM Running?
pbhunter, So I ran your simulation, and it pretty much exploded, but I am unsure if I applied how you wanted me to. I applied a fixed constraint to the bottom face of the bottom and a force constraint of the top face of the top (pointing up). [i.e. a uniaxial force] Weirdly I was unable to get the c...
