Re: Merging Fasteners and Gears in Part wb?

I don't think merging gears and fasteners into Part WB is a good idea. The primitives aren't parts by themselves but building blocks to make parts. It would make much more sense that the Part workbench offers parts. Rather than current situation where Part wb is actually a 'Part Design without body'...

Just to be clear. What happens if several submissions are posted as @Teoxx posts above? Is the first post accepted, or the last one, or none?

Re: Simple one: Constrain equal vs named constraint

Hmm...I thought I'd name many reference constraints while modeling. I just tested this and naming reference constraints seems to work just fine. Am I thinking about something else? Probably not. It works for me too. I have had need for this but last I tried it wasn't possible. Might have been a lon...

Re: Simple one: Constrain equal vs named constraint

Equality is most likely easier on the solver, if I remember correctly when you use expressions with internal references the process goes like this: - update the named constraint, solver runs before the constraints that reference this value are updated - expressions that reference the named constrai...

I don't understand where you are heading. Do you want to animate the PropertyEnumeration property? Why? The Animate Assembly dialog says it can only animate floats.

Re: Using Assembly4 to rotate some Axis legs

Is it possible to animate two variables at once in assembly4? For instance my inner_angle and outer_angle will fold into 0 and extend to 45 and 90 respectively. Currently I can only animate single variables. You can always create a new variable called for example "Time" or "Frame&quo...

Re: Using Assembly4 to rotate some Axis legs

Here's an updated assembly file. Just a fix for "Leg Lower Right". Added a perpendicular line in the skeleton sketch. Attached LowerRight LCS to the new vertices using O-Z-Y and removed its offset.

Re: Using Assembly4 to rotate some Axis legs

Avoiding flips could be quite tricky. I suggest you put your LCSs which controls the assembly in the center of the parts rotation axes. Often the O-X-Y attachment types have better flipping resistance. Especially with three vertices as reference. Select rotation center vertex as first reference, the...

Re: Avoiding quaternion flip that causes the axis sign flip

The flipping rotation axis doesn't seem to be the only problem but it may fix this case. That alone shouldn't change the rotation result. In the example file, the macro file isn't necessary, set the spreadsheet value to 270. Right click the Mesh object and choose "Recompute object". Repeat...
